Tulum, a Vegan’s Heaven

Last year I travelled with my family to Cancun, Mexico. We loved the place so much that this year when my parents decided to visit from India we planned to go back and share the wonder of this beautiful country with them. Nothing like the hot blazing sun, warm ocean, white sand beaches, cool winds and culture, culture, culture! Cancun and Tulum are both extremely culture rich!

We stayed at the the Nizuc Spa & Resort in Cancun and ventured out for day trips to Tulum which is only a 90 minute drive from there. Nizuc is absolutely gorgeous! An exclusive resort surrounded by mangroves, with 6 restaurants, a spa and a children’s playroom on site, this hotel is nothing short of premium luxury. A definite fit for a Gunas Girl!  It is now a family favorite. Their thai asian inspired restaurant “Indochine” had several dishes that were vegan or easy to veganize.

We also carried this super cute two tier mini slow cooker by Tiger (in pink!!) so we could prepare some dishes for our picky 3 year old in our suite. My choice of bags for this trip were the Jane and the all new Cher tote that I decided to test drive in the Mexican hot weather before opening it up for pre-order sale. The bag faired exceptionally well and doubled as a carryall tote and baby bag. So if you are thinking of getting one, don’t keep any doubts. It’s stylish, functional and durable.

While in Tulum, we brunched at the Nomade. It is literally as the name suggests, a perfect abode for a nomad soul. From morning yoga on the beach, to meditation sessions in their gratitude hut to a full vegan/vegetarian restaurant, the Nomade is quaint and has so much character. Enjoy sipping on some tropical cocktails, snacking on almond falafel and some zucchini noodle bowls for staying energized all day!

The location is also perfect. Situated in line with several other bars and resorts right outside and within walking distance, you can enjoy a nice evening stroll with your loved ones and perhaps even bar hop! If that’s not your style, then maybe enjoy a lazy evening on the hammocks gazing at the starry skies and a margarita or a Pina colada.

Hope you all had an amazing summer Gunas Girls! Don’t forget to give yourself the gift of travel. Transport your soul to another time, another place only to come back to daily life refreshed and ready to tackle life’s challenges with vigor.
