It’s February, which means ’tis the season for roses, chocolates, flowers, and heart-shaped everything. Whether or not you’re in a romantic relationship, Valentine’s Day has the potential to be a lot of fun (I’m fond of a good ol’ Galentines Day, myself!). Below I’ve listed some of my favorite vegan products (along with some fun events) that are perfect for getting in the spirit of things! Oh, and another cool thing? All of the businesses and organizations I mention are run by women!
Treat your Sweet Tooth.
Confectionary!: A collaborative effort between the creative geniuses (and best friends!) behind Lagusta’s Luscious and Sweet Maresa’s, Confectionary! is a vegan sweets shop most well-known for their delectable macarons and chocolates, but they also sell cookies, cakes, drinking chocolate, and so. much. more. From rose macarons to anatomical heart chocolates, there is no shortage of quirky Valentine’s Day treats. Shop online or visit their brick and mortar location in NYC!

Vegan Treats: Their “Fatefully Yours” box of chocolates is beloved by many–and for good reason! It’s creative, delicious, and beautiful to look at! Crafted by amazingly talented pastry chefs in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, they’re especially perfect for the people in your life who are nostalgic for the Halloween season! If the spooky chocolates aren’t for you, they sell another box of Valentine’s Day chocolates evoking more of the traditional romantic imagery.

Riverdel: Riverdel is a cozy vegan cheese shop located in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn. Their selection of cheeses includes some that are made in-house and others that are from outside brands. In addition to cheese, they sell vegan yogurts, meats, jams, milk, crackers, and other artisanal foods. You can use any of their cheeses to arrange a lovely Valentine’s Day cheese platter, but last year they created a special edition “(vegan) honey-dipped cheese heart sprinkled with rose petals”–it was as delicious and beautiful as it sounds–and they’ll be coming out with a new Valentine’s Day special for this year, topped with pistachios and featuring beets so that the cheese itself is pink! Pair it with a glass of rose wine and you’ve got a perfectly decadent evening in store.

Vegan Wines: Anyone who has made an effort to live a more cruelty-free lifestyle has made some unpleasant discoveries about products that seem vegan-friendly on the surface, but really aren’t even suitable for vegetarians. One such example is alcohol. Many brands utilize a filtration process that includes all sorts of animal products, including, but not limited to, fish. Vegan Wines is here to save the day and provide a luxe cruelty-free option to those who still wish to imbibe–absolutely perfect for a romantic evening!

Smarties: Smarties are a nostalgic childhood classic for many Americans and many people don’t even know it’s vegan. But they are–and proudly so! They’ve been selling Love Hearts for years and they’re the perfect gift for loved ones, both young and old, on the holiday celebrating love. Fun Fact: Did you know that one of the co-presidents of Smarties–Liz Dee–is a vegan herself? She even founded the very popular Vegan Lady Boss organization!

Brave Gentleman: So, the ladies have some really wonderful options in terms of Valentine’s Day accessories, but… what about the men? Brave Gentleman is the vegan community’s premier menswear line. Sported by notable animal advocates from Alan Cumming to Liam Hemsworth, you can’t go wrong with any of the products from this label if you decide to spend the night out.
Love Goodly: Love Goodly provides customers with vegan, eco-friendly, and safe-to-use beauty and skincare products, primarily in the form of subscription boxes and gift boxes. They’re committed to giving back to worthy causes, which means by making a purchase, you’re helping them support organizations like Farm Sanctuary and Rescue + Freedom Project. Want to spoil your Valentine (who may or may not be… you)? Love Goodly is a creative and thoughtful option with lasting value!
Oh Comadre Candles: Creative candles that smell positively delectable (I own a couple myself!). Many scents are an ode to Latino culture, with smells ranging from churros to guavas to Fabuloso (yes, the all-purpose cleaner). They’ve come out with special products perfect for Valentine’s Day, like lip shaped wax melts and rose scented candles, and none of it contains animal products!
