Natural Products Expo West: March started off with a bang thanks to the 2019 edition of Natural Products Expo West, where tons of vegan and vegan-friendly exhibitors came together to unveil amazing new vegan products they had been working on. Exciting new products like Beyond Beef from Beyond Meat, So Delicous oat milk yogurt, Follow Your Heart’s new dairy-free cream cheese, FYH’s new pancake/waffle batter, new Daiya breakfast burritos, Kite Hill french onion dip, and Sweet Earth Foods’ Filipino Adobo Chik’n all made their debut to the excitement of many hungry vegans. Be sure to check out the #vegnewsdoesexpo tag on Instagram for a comprehensive look into all of the amazing new products–we can’t wait to see them in stores!

A Prayer for Compassion Movie Premier: While Natural Products Expo West was taking place in California, vegans in New York City were attending the Prayer for Compassion movie premier. This was a film unlike any other that the vegan/animal rights community has seen before. While we are all very familiar with documentaries discussing the health, environmental, and ethical reasons for going vegan, there was previously no documentary film tackling the subject from the perspectives of spiritual and religious people around the world. Quakers, Jews, Catholics, Jains, and so many more came together to talk about how veganism and compassion towards animals was a natural extension of their spiritual and religious values. The screening was such a huge hit that they will be doing another screening later this month on April 18th, so make sure to buy your tickets here: https://www.tugg.com/events/a-prayer-for-compassion-p-n2

Pastel GUNAS bagsSpring has sprung and it is officially the perfect season to embrace pastel clothing and accessories. Take inspiration from the beautiful colors found in the blossoming flowers and leaves; after months of dreary, cold weather, it’s so much fun to get in the spirit of the new season by incorporating similarly colorful pieces into our looks. The Livia backpack, Miley work bag, TIPPI tote, and Cher tote are best sellers available in soft pinks and lavendar. If you’re looking for shoes, the Swan flats in pink are a perfect and comfy choice for any Springtime situation, whether you are in an office or frolicking through a grassy meadow.

Chef Chloe’s Pop Up Shop: Renowned vegan chef Chloe Coscarelli partnered with Tom Colicchio to host Supernatural, a pop up restaurant that graced New York City throughout the last three weeks of March. It was a hit, regularly hosting long lines of hungry people impatiently waiting to feast on sprinkle cakes, beet macaroni and cheese, nachos, and more. We can only hope that Chloe will bring back Supernatural for good!

Vegan Drinks: Vegan Drinks is a monthly social event and a staple in the NYC vegan community. March’s edition of Vegan Drinks took place on Thursday, March 28th and GUNAS had the absolute pleasure of donating some items for a raffle to benefit Chilis on Wheels, whom Vegan Drinks was raising money for. To make things even better, the magical people behind Little Choc Apothecary (NYC’s only vegan creperie) were there, too! Great drinks, great food, great people, great prizes, all raising money for a good cause–is there any more you could ask for?!
